Simple Moments • 14 • Afternoon Walks with Lucy

Thursday, February 20, 2014

The morning after your birthday, the celebration continued with breakfast at Bob & Edith's diner down the street. It was a rough morning in the land of being two, so our breakfast wasn't an enjoyable one, but you win some, you lose some when it comes to holidays and parenting in general. As we were leaving, I thought it might help you to bring a toy with you so I grabbed your beloved doll that we named Lucy. I didn't expect you to take it or care much about having her with you, but you clutched her all the way to the bus stop, on the bus ride, and on our mile long walk home. Watching her legs flop along under your arm as you walked or seeing her face peek up over your shoulder made me smile. It reminded of just how innocent you still are. I love how the simplest things bring you joy.
