'four drifters off to see the world • there's such a lot of world to see'
I'm a wife, a mother, an unwavering optimist, a lover of fanciful stories, and a maker of all sorts. I write. I photograph. I draw. I knit. I sew. I have an insatiable wanderlust, but find simple, everyday moments to be full of beauty and magic. My deepest desire in this season of life is to love well, tell stories, rejoice in homemaking and motherhood, and spend my days adventuring with my kindred souls.
ABOUT THE BLOG
The Long Way Home was named years ago for our tendencies to wander home through the streets of our neighborhood. When we left our city life we loved in search of a simpler life south of the Mason-Dixon, this name became one of the great ironies of our life. We've put down roots in the small town my husband and I were both raised in and are building a home in the wild woods that he used to explore as a kid.
ABOUT OUR FAMILY
Once upon a time we were a family of three living in a quiet little apartment on a quiet little street in not-so-quiet Brooklyn, New York. We spent a lot of time cooking, exploring the city on bike and foot, dancing barefoot to old records, building epic forts, and sliding across the hardwood floors in our socks. Now we're a family of four who spend our days exploring hiking trails with a baby on our back and a toddler in the lead, finding our next favorite camping spot, and overall, just looking for our next adventure. The Long Way Home is essentially a living memoir, a love letter from our family to this world full of beauty and joy. We dream big, work hard, live simply, and love fiercely. Welcome.
